About Awesome ACF
A curated directory of extensions, guides, snippets, and video resources for Advanced Custom Fields, built for WordPress developers who want the best ACF tools in one place.
What you'll find here
Third-party plugins tracked across WordPress.org, GitHub, and independent developers with install counts, ratings, and health indicators.
In-depth tutorials covering ACF development best practices, from beginner basics to advanced patterns.
Ready-to-use code solutions you can drop straight into your theme or plugin.
Community-contributed video tutorials from across the ACF ecosystem.
How the directory works
Extension data is synced weekly from wordpress.org via an automated pipeline. Every Monday, we pull the latest install counts, ratings, version data, and compatibility information for all 77 tracked plugins. You're always seeing current data, not a stale snapshot.
Each extension listing includes health indicators that help you assess whether a plugin is actively maintained, recently updated, and well-reviewed. We also manually curate premium and GitHub-hosted extensions that aren't available on wordpress.org, bringing the total to 240+ listings across the directory.
Who's behind this
I'm Phil Kurth, a WordPress developer and consultant based in Geelong, Australia. I've been building websites and web applications for close to 20 years, with a deep focus on WordPress and Advanced Custom Fields.
I run Hookturn, a WordPress plugin brand that specialises in ACF extensions. Our products include ACF Custom Database Tables, Advanced Forms Pro, ACF Theme Code Pro, and ACF Remote Sync. These are used by thousands of WordPress developers around the world.
I've also contributed to ACF itself. Elliot Condon, ACF's original creator, brought me in to work on ACF Core part-time. I built the first iteration of the WP REST API integration, exposing ACF field data through the WordPress REST API. This was shortly before ACF was acquired by Delicious Brains, and later by WP Engine, who continue to actively develop it today.
I also run Wolf Digital, a software consultancy that builds operational systems for growing businesses using Laravel, React, and WordPress.
I created Awesome ACF because there was no central place for the ACF community to discover third-party extensions and learning resources. The ACF ecosystem is large and active, but finding quality tools meant searching across wordpress.org, GitHub, and dozens of independent sites. This directory brings it all together in one place.
What is ACF?
Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) is the most widely used custom fields plugin for WordPress. It lets you add custom field groups to posts, pages, users, taxonomies, and options pages, turning WordPress into a fully flexible content management system.
ACF is developed and maintained by WP Engine. The free version is available on wordpress.org, with a Pro version that adds repeater fields, flexible content layouts, gallery fields, options pages, and the ACF Blocks API for Gutenberg.
